Art Exhibition: Sovereign Art Foundation Students Prize
The Library is hosting an exhibition for the Finalists of the Sovereign Art Foundation Student Prize from Wednesday 10 - Saturday 27 November.
The Prize was established in Guernsey in 2015 and seeks to inspire and reward young artists in the community. It aims to encourage cultural development and celebrate the importance of art in the education system by recognising the quality of artwork that can be produced by talented, young students.
The Students Prizes invite teachers from secondary schools to nominate their best art students to submit artworks online. A judging panel of local art professionals then shortlist the 20 best artworks to be exhibited in a public space. The judges visit the exhibition to select one artwork to be awarded a Judges Prize. To boost engagement and increase exposure for the artists, the general public are also invited to cast a vote online or in person for their favourite artwork displayed in the exhibition, for which the most popular work will receive the Public Vote Prize.
Come along to the Library to view the Finalists' works and vote for your favourite.
