It's quick and easy to join the Library online. You'll be given a temporary membership number which you can use straightaway to access our online services like eBooks, audiobooks, digital newspapers, and digital magazines.
Visit the Library within 60 days to collect your library card.
If you're under 16, you'll need a parent or guardian to complete the application on your behalf.
If you're resident in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, pop in to the main Library in Market Street, or one of our Community Libraries. There's a short application form to fill in (staff will be happy to help you with this). If you're under 16 you will need a parent or guardian to sign your form.
You'll be given a library card, which you should have with you if you wish to borrow books and other items. You don't need your card to use our computers or free WiFi, or to come to the Library to read, study, and so on.
If you're not resident in Guernsey (staying less than a year) you can get a special 'visitor card'. This requires a £15 deposit, which will be returned to you at the end of your stay.
What services can I use when I join?
Once you're a member of the Library, you can:
Borrow up to 12 items at a time, including books, audiobooks, jigsaws, and DVDs. You can keep them for three weeks. If no one else reserves them, you can renew up to six times.
Search, reserve, renew, and manage your account online or on the Library App.
