How to join

Membership of the Library is FREE

Join online

If you're over 16 you can join online. You will be given a temporary membership number which you can use straightaway to reserve books on the catalogue and borrow ebooks, eAudiobooks, digital newspapers and digital magazines.

To complete your registration you need to visit the Library within 60 days to collect your permanent membership card.

Please note: your temporary membership number will not work on Libby. To use Libby, please contact us so we can issue you with a permanent number.

Join at the Library

If you are resident in the Bailiwick of Guernsey just come along to the main Library in Market Street, or one of our Community Libraries, and fill out an application form (staff will be happy to help you with this). If you're under 16 you will need a parent or guardian to sign your application.

You will be given a membership card, which you must bring with you whenever you visit the Library if you wish to borrow books and other items. You don't need your card to use our computers or free WiFi, or to use the Library space to read, study, and so on.

If you are not resident in Guernsey (staying less than a year) you will need a 'visitor card' for which you wil be asked to pay a deposit of £15. This will be paid back to you at the end of your stay on return of the Library items you have borrowed.
