Open Mic Night for young adults

Open Mic Night for young adults

Friday 30 August, 19.00 - 21.00

Calling all young writers!

The Library is proud to present its first Open Mic Night for young adults aged 16-21.

Read aloud something you've written in front of a supportive audience - a poem, a short story, an extract from a novel or other book, a comedy routine, or anything else. Meet other writers and get inspired by each other.

Book your FREE ticket in the audience here. And if you'd like to be one of our readers, keep reading the FAQs below to find out how to submit your work and book a spot behind the microphone.

FAQs:

I want to read something. What do I need to do?

Send us the piece you'd like to read using this online submission form.

You can submit poetry, prose, stand-up comedy, or anything else spoken word. Due to time constraints, the maximum permitted length is 1500 words - if your piece of writing is longer than that, consider reading an extract from it.

I don't want to read anything. Can I still come?

Of course! Come along and support your friends, and enjoy some great performances.

I'm older than 21. Can I come and listen?

The event is for 16-21 year-olds only, whether performing or sitting in the audience. We will make exceptions for parents of readers, if the readers themselves request it.
