Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present in the moment.

Paying attention to what we're doing and where we are, without being overwhelmed by other things.

Research shows that mindfulness can help with a number of conditions including stress, anxiety and depression.

Everyone has the ability to be mindful, but we might sometimes need some help along the way. The Library is a great place to practice mindfulness, with quiet spaces and comfy seating. We also have:

  • A 'community jigsaw' in the Assembly Room. Sit for a while and add a few pieces to the puzzle already started. Or why not borrow one and take it home to complete.
  • Adult colouring books and pencils. Grab a book of your choice, relax and start colouring. On the first Thursday evening of each month we run Cake & Colour in the Hayward Room, 19:00 – 20:30. Come along for colouring, a natter, and some cake. All materials are provided but feel free to bring in your own things if you’d prefer. No booking required and all are welcome.
  • Free lunchtime meditation sessions on Mondays. These are 20 minute sessions in the Dorey Room. Great as a lunch break escape or to take some time out from a busy day. Check the events page to see the upcoming dates and book your place.
