“Gandalf, my old friend, this will be a night to remember…”

Strangers from distant lands, friends of old. You have been summoned to answer questions about the Lord of the Rings.

To mark 20 years since the release of The Return of the King, join us at the Library to test your knowledge of Middle-earth. Assemble a Fellowship of 4-6 companions and set out on a quest to celebrate this epic trilogy.

Cosplay is strongly encouraged – we won’t bar the gates if you’re not dressed up, but we will be awarding a prize for best costume.

FAQs

How do I enter a team?

Click ‘buy tickets’ to enter your team of 4-6 people. One person on each team should buy a Team Ticket for all of you, specifying if you have 4, 5, or 6 in your team. You’ll be prompted to purchase your tickets and pay via Eventbrite. 

How much does it cost?

Tickets are £10 per person. As well as supporting the Library, this helps to cover our costs and provide some great prizes.

Is the quiz about the films or the books?

As it’s the 20th anniversary of the release of the last of the films, our focus will be on those.

Will you be serving second breakfast? What about luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper?

Unfortunately, none of the above – we can’t serve a full meal (so no po-tay-toes available). However, each table will receive a platter of elevenses during the break to help keep the Fellowship going. But we recommend that you don’t set out from the Shire on an empty stomach.

Will you be serving drinks?

Yes. The Prancing Pony will be open and serving mead (beer, wine and soft drinks) for you to purchase. 

I want to play, but my friends don’t know their Nazgûl from their Númenor. Can I enter on my own?

If you don't have a team, get in touch and, if we can, we’ll put together a Fellowship of individuals eager for a quest of their own.

I've already entered a team, can I add another player?

Yes, just get in touch.
