In 2025 our study facilities have been given a major refurbishment, thanks to support from the Social Investment Fund and the John Ramplin Charitable Trust.
+ What's happened?
The large room on the second floor of the Library has long been a quiet place for people to study, revise, and work remotely. However, while popular, in recent years the space had become somewhat tired, and it was badly in need of an upgrade.
Support from SIF and the John Ramplin Trust has funded new lighting, a new carpet, and lots more improvements. It’s a big first step towards transforming the Hayward Room into a world-class learning space.
The upgraded Hayward Room is open now – come along and see for yourself!
+ What happens next?
The refurb was stage one. The next step is to replace our ageing furniture with new ‘study pods’ – bespoke, modern desks and chairs with built-in lighting and charging ports. These will be a huge improvement, and will also more than double the capacity of the room. The result will be a state-of-the-art learning space which the whole community can enjoy free of charge, all year round.
We have two study pods already, thanks to the generous support of OfficeMaker and Collenette Jones. We're still seeking sponsorship for several more, as well as smaller single-user units. If you or your organisation might be interested in sponsoring a study pod, please get in touch on [email protected]
We’d like to say a very big thank you to the Social Investment Fund, the John Ramplin Charitable Trust, Officemaker and Collenette Jones for making this upgrade possible.
