Fun Palace

Fun Palace

On Saturday 5 October we're joining forces with Guernsey Museums and turning the Library into a Fun Palace!

Fun Palaces is a nationwide campaign promoting culture at the heart of community, inviting local people to share their knowledge and skills with other local people.

The event takes place at the Library from 10.00-16.00, and there will be lots to see, do and experience. One exciting addition this year is a Japanese-themed room based on the temporary Museum exhibition, ‘To Japan and Back Again’. Visitors can discover the country and its culture, learn some of the language or have a go at origami and printing. There will also be a ‘Pokémon station’ throughout the day, where you can learn about the Japanese phenomenon or indulge your love of it.

Another first for the event is the addition of a ‘Learn Something Teach Something’ area, where children and adults are encouraged to share skills. This station is all about celebrating the skills we already have – it could be anything from tying a knot, telling a joke or sharing a life lesson. We’ll be chalking up the lessons outside the area to see how many amazing skills our visitors share throughout the day.

On the science side of things, have a go at basic coding with our Beebots, or take part in engineering activities hosted by MakerSpace. For the more artistically minded, there's Regency dancing, textile crafts, pom pom making, and live music.

All activities are FREE. Find the full day's programme at http://funpalaces.co.uk/discover/guernseys-fun-palace/
