The 6 Book Challenge is a really simple idea that aims to:

support adult literacy learners get to grips with reading
encourage readers to talk about what they’ve read

The scheme is absolutely free and completely confidential.

Adults signing up to join the scheme are given a reading diary which they can use to record details of the books they have read with support from Guernsey Adult Literacy Project tutors.

Adults who would like to get involved can sign up for the 6 Book Challenge through the Guernsey Adult Literacy Project; which is supported by the Guernsey College of Further Education.

This scheme is aimed at helping people to help themselves. A list of books has been specifically chosen by professionals for their quality as treatments for individuals experiencing mental health difficulties. All of these books can be borrowed for free at the Guille-Allès library.

‘Anyone who has looked into buying a self help book will know that there are hundreds of books available for each mental health difficulty. We have narrowed this down for people by finding the most effective books available for the most common mental health problems’
Dr Beverley Tachon, Acting Manager – Psychological Therapies Service.

Lists of the books included in the scheme are available at your GP surgery or at Guille-Allès library, with titles covering problems such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, anger, and many more.

The Guille-Allès Library on Facebook

The Guille-Allès Library on Facebook

Whichbook.net gives readers an enjoyable and intuitive way to find books to match their mood.
Instead of starting from the overwhelming choice of books available, whichbook.net starts from the reader and enables each individual to build the elements of that elusive 'good read' we are all looking for but don't quite know how to define.
The standard way of organising books for choice, on shelves in a library or a bookshop, or on the web, starts from the products available - the authors, titles, publishers or genres. Whichbook.net enables, for the first time, the choice of book to start from the individual reader and what they are looking for.

Fantastic Fiction

Fantastic Fiction
